Nora Younis

A journalist, blogger, filmmaker and human rights advocate who is now working as the editor-in-chief of Al-Manassa, a platform for open journalism and collaborative authoring by Meedan. During the time of the Egyptian uprising, she contributed to the reshaping of online journalism locally as the website website managing editor of Al-Masry Al-Youm daily Independent. Before that, Younis also covered the Middle East for The Washington Post and for other international newspapers. She co-produced the long documentary film Reporting a Revolution that was featured in the Berlinale 2012 and screened in the international film festivals of Rio de Janeiro and Seoul. She won the Human Rights First (HRF) 30th anniversary award in 2008 for her work using new media tools to expose human rights violations and police brutality.
